11 Facts about Kyle

  1. I am an Eagle Scout. A dying breed. Not many more good ones out there that understand how great of an honor this is
  2. Celebrated being married 20 years this past week by being at Girl Scout Camp with my entire family
  3. I have been an IT nerd since sophomore in high school when I joined Computer Homeroom.
  4. Marquette University High School is a great high school. Unless you attend class there, you will never fully understand the bond that an all male high school can have.
  5. Met my lovely bride in fact #2 freshman year at Carroll College. Her first impression of me was not great. Ask her about it sometime 🙂
  6. Swimming has been a passion of mine for a long time. Coached 16 years at Divine Savior Holy Angles before moving to Waukesha North in 2007. I will be eternally grateful to Peggy Braun for taking a chance on me to coach.
  7. Hate the fact that there is not enough time in the day or week or month to staff fully connected with my friends from High School and College. No matter how much time is carved out, there is still not enough
  8. Traveling to Australia during January of 1991 will always be one of the greatest trips of my life
  9. It has taken this long to get to my passion for sports and fantasy sports? Something is wrong. ESPN is a mandatory channel selection and the NFL RedZone is the greatest thing ever invented. Fantasy football is something that I take serious but it does help with fact #7
  10. Same with Golf. Enjoy playing golf or as my brother calls it “Hit and Chase”. No course is a garbage course when playing gold, well except for Portage Country Club. That is a Dog Track
  11. My real brother Brian, lives 5 houses from me, and “my bro” lives 0.5 miles away from me. My real brother is often accused of being older, although I am 4.5 years older. “My Bro” is Jim. At Girl Scout camp, a number of the younger campers often thin we are brothers.

11 Answers for Dana:

1. Why did you start blogging, and why? Really wanted to capture my thoughts while practicing to write more. Most of you know that I have a million things in my head at one time and I thought this would help get them out in an organized way. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

2. If you could go anywhere in the world, right now, where would you go, and why?
As long as I can take Michelle with me, we are going back to Australia. Just something about the people and the culture that is so much fun

3. If you had the chance to travel back in time or into the future, which would you pick, and what would you want to see/find out?

2012 Year in Review

SuperBowlStill recovering from the Packers being bounced from the Playoffs, the family goes to the Super Bowl Experience in Indy the week before the Super Bowl.  Then we head out for a tubing/swim long weekend to Sunburst and then to Blue Harbor in Sheboygan in February.

March started with a massive snowstorm on the 2nd, and then the new scoreboard at the North Aquatic Center was install on March 6th.

Group PhotoKyle goes with his brother and buddies to Gulf Shores for 6 rounds of golf in 4 days over St. Patrick’s Day/Opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament.   GASER Championship is won!

April was very exciting.  Mollet’s and Bedalov’s go to Vegas for Spring Break.  And on our return, Michelle starts working full time at Waukesha North.

Kyle went to Kansas City for work in mid may and had an awesome meal at Jack Stack Barbecue.   Anna gets her braces put on, andFractured Wrist Luke breaks his radius in his left hand.

Anna BracesWith Michelle working full time, planning for Girl Scout camp occupied a great deal of time in May and June, and culminated with a great week of togetherness at Camp Winding River at the end of June.  It also concluded with Luke getting Cryptosporidium and Vibrio

Kyle wins his second golf “major” in mid July at the 19th Annual Tiedt Invitational Tournament.

Swim and School start in August and September and then October rolls in and things start blurring together.

Soccer, birthdays, ushering, choir, watching the Olympics, Badger football games, and meeting LeRoy Butler.  Kyle and LeRoy

Kyle growing a mustache, replacement referees, Luke and Kyle goto a Packer game, fantasy football, working home games at Waukesha North and then Christmas is upon us.

2010 in Review – Second Half

Columbus Install

The second half of 2010 started with the end of Girl Scout Day Camp at Camp Winding River in Neosho, followed by one day to sleep in and then a trip to Little Muskego Lake for the 4th of July festivities with friends.  2nd year in a row we have been there and the water ski show never disappoints.  Team Bedalov also accompanied me to an install in Columbus, Indiana.  It turned out to be a relaxing vacation between two long drives.

20th Season Begins!

August means one thing in our house.  Start of the High School Swim Season.  Season #20 started and thus my extra free time gets cut down dramatically.  However, Michelle and I did sneak a weekend away to go see one of my favorites swimmers get married.  Mel and Mike tied the know in Illinois.  Preparation for school was well underway.

Anna-6th Grade

September did mean school was starting.  Anna was making a big step and was going to start middle school.  But not only that, she was was going to attend the STEM Academy.  She is being challenged and enjoys the environment.  Luke is in third grade and working hard to score really high in Math and Spelling.  It also marked a time where Michelle was going back to work.  She started working 6.5 hours a day at Bethesda as a LD Aide.  She really enjoys working with the kids.  And it makes me proud that she has found something that she feels good about in a work setting.

Luke-3rd Grade

We also made the tough choice in leaving our church and we started attending St. Luke’s Lutheran in Waukesha.  It was one of the hardest decisions Michelle and I have made together.  The kids love it at St. Luke’s and are active in the choir and hand bells.  Michelle even joined the choir.  Sorry Joanne 😦 My guess is that sometime in 2011 we will take the new members class and join.  And as an added bonus it is right across the street from Taco Johns!!!!

October was more swimming and weekends filled with football.  I took my brother to the Bucky vs Brutus game at Camp Randall.  Lost my voice on the opening kickoff return for a TD and is was mass chaos the rest of the game.  The WNKM Swimming and Diving team did a fund raiser for Breast Cancer Awareness and designed an awesome t shirt. We raised close to $300 but already have plans to make it bigger and better next season.  And, this cannot be over looked, Michelle won the fantasy baseball league for the second straight year behind the strength of her new boyfriend, Albert Pujols.

Camp Randall

November had the conclusion of the swim season, and the team had the best finish in about 10 years and was rewarding to the student/athletes and to myself.  Learned a great deal this season.  We also had our first ever, Bedalov/Badger Weekend, with hopes of doing it again in the future.   Hockey game on Friday night followed by a football game on Saturday.  Bucky scores 10 touchdowns in the kids first ever game.

Bedalov/Badger Blast

And that brings us back to December.  Kids are antsy for Christmas to start, the tree goes up, weekends filled with watching football, getting eliminated from the Survivor Pool in Week 14 after last years Week 17 debacle, fantasy football wrapping up, Michelle concluding her first fantasy football season, sending and receiving Christmas Cards.

Looking forward to 2011!!

Bowl Games and Playoffs

Now that the Christmas Holiday is over, it is time to get ready for the Bowl Games and Playoffs.  And to add to the excitement it is Packer/Bear Week!

Badgers play on Saturday in the Granddaddy of them all, the Rose Bowl.  Bucky is a three point under dog, and I am hopng that they take this on as a huge “stick in the eye”.  Bucky should win this game.  Not sure if it will be big, but I was not confident going into last years destruction of Miami.  If Bucky did not turn the ball over three times that game would not even been close.  Not trying to sound like Troy Aikman or Cris Collinsworth, but if Bucky does not make turnovers or big mental mistakes, they win this game.

Packers win Sunday at home, they most likely will take the 4 hour ride to Soldier Field the following weekend to play the Bears again.  Statistically the Packers are better than the Bears in almost every category.  But that goes out the window when it is a rivalry game.

And I am still in the hunt for a fantasy football title.  The Eagles/Vikings game Tuesday will determine if I get an chance at the title in Week 17.
