On Wisconsin

Mid week last week my phone starts going crazy.  Text messages are coming in like crazy.  First one, then another, then another.  Then people started calling me.  It was something pretty crazy.

All this because Bret Bielema left Wisconsin to go to Arkansas.Barry

As time went on and more reports came out, it was pretty clear that Bret needed to leave to get out of Barry’s shadow.  I think we can all agree to that.  You never want to be the next replacement after someone like him, you want to be the next next replacement.  In a few cases it works out well, just look at the QB situation in Green Bay.  That has seemed to work out pretty well although the departing circumstances were just as bizarre and weird.

Lets jump straight to the replacement.

Bucky has been a team that has won about 90 percent of the games they were suppose to win and lost about 85 percent of the ones they were suppose to lose.  Problem is that this will never get Bucky to the next level and to attract top talent and become a consistent Top 10 team.

So what do they need to do?

Remember when Lovie Smith was hired by the Bears in 2004?  His very first press conference he stated that his 1st goal was to beat the Packers.  As a season ticket holder, I want the coach to get up at his 1st presser and say loudly and proudly to the press that the 1st goal is to beat the Buckeyes.

Deep down everyone knows that for the next 5 to 10 years that you will need to beat Urban to win the Big 10 (or Big 14 or whatever it will be called).  Beat OSU and you will be the champ.  Be the champ and more student/athletes will come to Madison.
